Zinsel Neutraceuticals
The Zinsel range of products and neutraceuticals, which target specific problem areas of the body, are available from The Melrose Aesthetic Centre.
What are neutraceuticals?
Dr Stephen DeFelice invented the word neutraceuticals, which is a combination of the words nutrition and pharmaceuticals. It is used in reference to dietary supplements extracted from plants that may have benefits for the body or may supply the body with essential fatty acids, proteins or other nutrients. They can also be called "functional foods".
Are they chemical or natural?
They are considered natural as they are prepared from food substances and do not involve chemical reproductions.
What are the benefits of using them?
Folic acid is an example of a neutroceutical and many women use folic acid as a supplement before getting pregnant to prevent neural tube defects at child birth. Other neutraceuticals have antioxidant properties, e.g. antifungal, antiseptic, or anti-aging. Similar to fish oils containing Omega 3 fatty acids, they also reduce the risk of heart disease. Herbal supplements are very popular at present.
Should I consult a doctor before taking them?
Neutraceuticals should be considered as medicine and you should consult your Aesthetic Specialist or Doctor before using them as they may interact with each other or with prescribed medicine.
