Your Skin

Your skin is the largest and one of the vital organs of your body. Together with your bone structure and other supporting tissues, your skin is responsible for your outward appearance. In its intact position your skin functions to protect you from any number of harmful outside elements. The skin also plays a vital role in maintaining body temperature. All to often we expose our skin and our bodies to harmful external elements. These elements can cause a variety of skin conditions and cause the appearance of the skin to change and to age prematurely. Taking great care of your skin from an early age will often prevent these conditions and ward off the signs of early aging such as wrinkles and thinning of our skin.

How your skin appears is a product of your genetic make-up and your lifestyle - what you eat, how you exercise, whether you sleep enough, if you smoke and what environmental toxins it is exposed to such as sunlight, air pollution and chemicals. As we age the effects of poor skin care and exposure to the elements may very well cause us to look older than we really are and for our skin to appear lifeless. Proper skin care from a young age is the price we pay for a youthful appearance of our skin and one free of unwanted conditions as we get older.

Understanding how the skin works, what makes it age and how to properly care for it, will help to take the necessary steps to ensure a younger looking, vibrant and glowing skin for longer. Many people suffer from low self-esteem and this may partly be a result of them not being happy with their outward appearance. Taking good care of your skin and using the right products on your skin will not only enhance your appearance and making you feel better about yourself. Today there are a variety of non surgical aesthetic treatments that we offer at The Melrose Aesthetic Centre that go along way to restore the skin to its former appearance, Additionally we offer a variety of skin care products for home care that supplement the professional treatments in enhancing your outward appearance.
