Beautiful Body Contouring
If you, like most of us, have ‘problem areas’ – usually the thighs, buttocks, hips, waist and abdomen – areas with pockets of fat that just don’t seem to budge, then body contouring is what you need. Body contouring by way of procedures such laser or injection lipolysis is highly effective, as well as being quick and painless, unlike the old-fashioned mechanically invasive method of liposuction. Laser lipolysis involves using heat to ‘melt’ down these pockets of fat, whilst injection lipolysis involves a series of injections of a substance that breaks down fat and improves metabolism. Both procedures stimulate collagen production and result in a new, smooth, contoured and soft shape for your body. Contact us today to find out about body contouring techniques that work.

The Laser Lipolysis treatment is a revolutionary body sculpting procedure which is normally recommended to people who struggle to get rid of excess fat in areas that doesn’t respond to conventional methods of weight-reduction, like exercise and diet. Some of these areas include the abdomen, saddle bags, thighs, knees, ankles, jowls and chin – to name a few. It is an excellent method for the removal of cellulite and is especially effective to target excess fat post-pregnancy. The procedure involves a single session, which is performed under local anaesthetic. This drastically reduces the recovery peribod and social downtime. There is no hospitalization or overnight stay involved – the client can go home immediately following the treatment. While liposuction removes large quantities of excess fat, lipolysis further sculpts the area that is being treated and has an additional firming effect on the skin overlying the area. The heat of the laser gently warms the collagen, which has a tightening effect on the skin. At the first consultation the client’s measurements are documented and pictures taken. On the day of the treatment the client is given some sedatives to relax them during the procedure. A small incision is made in the area that is to be treated; this is where the cannula is inserted and manoeuvred. The heat of the laser gently warms and liquefies the fat cells which make it possible for the body to naturally metabolize and discard the excess tissue over the next few weeks. After the procedure the client is given a support garment to wear and may return home immediately. It’s a result-driven, area-specific procedure with maximum benefits and no side-effects or scarring. Most body areas can be treated, it’s a relatively painless procedure with only slight discomfort (minimal swelling and bruising afterwards) and little to no down-time.

One thing I believe that makes a procedure of this nature successful is TRUST….
You have to feel comfortable with your doctor and have every conviction that his expert hands are going to guide you safely through. Doctor Gordon Cohen was extremely professional and no less patient, performing a procedure that extended over five hours with a camera crew filming throughout!
There are three main steps to this process of fat removal. The targeted area is first subjected to tiny multiple acupuncture-like injections that instantly numb your skin. Then a 1mm probe is inserted into the area. It contains the solution that the laser beam reacts with. The last step involves moving the laser up and down under the skin. Though you can’t actually feel the movement of the probe, you can sense all your fat being melted into oblivion (hooray!). I found this fascinating to watch on the camera monitor provided. As the fat starts to melt, the picture on the screen changes colour, turning a pasty yellow. This 3-step process was applied to each of the four areas I had treated – my upper tummy, lower tummy and side handles.
It has been three days since the procedure. I am wearing a support brace to reduce the swelling. Those of you who have done an AB class at the gym, will know the slight tenderness I am feeling. You will feel like this for three to four days after. I do have some bruising but being a fair-skinned redhead that was to be expected. Tomorrow my stitches come out and I look forward to the results of a slimmer, leaner me!
