What is Autologize^®

It's a restorative and preventative anti-aging beauty treatment based on your own stem cells that can be applied topically to any area of your skin, including your face, neck, décolleté and hands.

Where do the Stem Cells come from?

The stem cells come from your own fat (adipose tissue). As they're your own stem cells, it means that they are perfectly matched to your own body, hence your skin accepts the treatment (no immune system rejection).

What type of Stem Cells are they?

Mesenchymal stem cells, which are the basic building blocks of many of the specialised cells in your body (fibroblasts, keratinocytes) that every day rebuild or repair your skin, and extra-cellular matrix (collagen, elastin, hair), and many other types of body tissue.

What will it do for me?

It targets the niches in your skin that go about the repair of your skin on a day-to-day basis, and resolves UV and biological (time) damage, thus your skin will start to bring itself back towards its original natural feel. It does what the anti-aging creams claim to do - it fixes the problems rather than trying to plump your epidermis with water molecules or making your skin feel soft and smooth for a few hours.

Is there and Down-Time after Autologize^® Mesotherapy?

None. We just ask that you don't wash the part of your skin area treated for the next 24 hours - that's all.

How do you get the Stem Cells from me?

A small amount of fat is harvested from your thighs or abdomen during a short thirty-minute micro-liposuction under local aesthetic at The Melrose Aesthetic Centre.

What happens next?

Your cells are couriered under temperature-control to the Netcells laboratory nearby in Midrand. Your fat (lipo-aspirate) is then processed over a number of days to isolate millions of mesenchymal stem cells, and undergo quality control checks.

Some of the cells are then stored (cryogenically at -190C) for your future medical needs or aesthetic treatments, and some will be used to make Autologize^®. You can read more on the Netcells website HERE or on the reDermis site HERE.

What is in Autologize^®

Firstly, it's not a stem cell transplant. No whole live cells are being topically applied to your skin. Autologize^® consists of your own recovery factors - the type of response factors your body uses all-day, every-day when your body's cells are dying or damaged e.g. you cut your finger and wound healing will start.

So Autologize^® is completely natural, nothing is added, and it's yours.

Is it injected?

No. Autologize^® is formulated into a gel which will be topically applied to your skin surface after a very light peel that takes 15 minutes and gets your dead skin cells out of the way for this revolutionary Mesotherapy to work at its best.
